INSPIRATION- handfasting cords fit for fall

“Is not this a true autumn day? Just the still melancholy that I love—that makes life and nature harmonize”. - George Eliot

Fall equinox

In the Northern Hemisphere the autumnal equinox falls around September 23, as the Sun crosses the celestial equator going south. In the Southern Hemisphere the equinox occurs on March 20 or 21, when the Sun moves north across the celestial equator.

Our pagan friends also know this time as Mabon, Fall Equinox is a special time in the year where we all meet balance once again. Mabon marks the official ending of summer and the start of fall. Sometimes known as the witches thanksgiving, it is celebrated with bounty from the harvests planted near Lammas or before.

Here at CEOTHA HQ, we think it would be incredibly special to hold your handfasting ceremony on or around the fall equinox and truly celebrate both natures changing seasons and your love for one another.  Autumn is a beautiful time for a ceremony, so we hope this blog provides you with some inspiration for an intimate, fall handfasting ceremony!

 Natures inspiration

As the season changes from summer to autumn we begin to see the leaves turn from fresh green hues to vibrant reds, oranges and browns. At CEOTHA we are continually inspired by natures beauty and try to incorporate this into our handfasting cord designs.

Cosy colours

Warm natural colours are ironically often associated with the coldest times of year - whether that's the vivid turning leaves of autumn or the deep tones of berries, poinsettias and bright candle flames associated with Christmas and New Year. But they can work perfectly year-round: dried flowers, terracotta and clay shades like taupe, bronzes and rose golds suggest richness but with a grounded, homey feel. For a natural, rustic, cottagecore vibe, you could swap out the typical bridal greys and silvers for these cosy colours.
