Why We’re Raising Our Prices—And What It Means for You
On Monday 14th April, we’ll be increasing the prices of our handfasting cords. The average change will be around 15%, though some cords will increase more than others, depending on materials and time required.
We want to be clear: this isn’t a decision we’ve come to lightly. For us, keeping handfasting cords affordable has always been part of the mission—ritual, beauty, and cultural depth should be accessible.
But as more couples find us and our order volume continues to grow, we’re facing increasing pressure behind the scenes. The only way to meet demand without compromising on quality is to adjust our pricing.
At Ceotha, everything we do is slow, deliberate, and meaningful. Each cord is not only made by hand, but designed from the ground up. We draw on historical research, traditional techniques, and modern interpretations to craft cords that are both culturally rooted and deeply personal.
We’re proud to say that our studio has grown. We now support a team of skilled artisans, each paid fairly for their work, and we are expanding the ways we serve couples: from highly personal customisation to detailed ceremonial guidance. As our team and offerings grow, so do our admin and operational needs.
We also spend a great deal of time working directly with couples. Every cord involves communication, design, revisions, and ritual preparation—this care is one of the things that makes our cords so cherished, but it also means our studio hours stretch far beyond the braiding bench.
We are also committed to using high-quality, sustainable materials wherever possible.
Raising prices ensures that we can continue to do this work sustainably. It allows us to offer stable, fairly-paid employment, cover rising material costs, and keep growing Ceotha in a way that stays true to our values.
We’re also considering offering a “waiting list” option at current prices for those who are planning their wedding well in advance and are happy to wait up to six months for delivery. If this would be helpful for you, let us know—we’d love to hear your thoughts.
And remember: our website prices remain lower than our Etsy prices. If you’ve been thinking about commissioning a cord, now is a good time.
Thank you for supporting us, valuing this craft, and allowing us to be a small part of your love story.
Love, Ceotha
